As much as I love running, I'm not the biggest fan of running in the cold. So, in order to keep up a decent exercise regimen I am heeding my sisters-in-law and my wife's advice by trying out new workout videos. Their first suggestion: Jillian Michaels' 30-day shred. I don't envision too many guys being open to this (and if you are, bravo) but I don't mind. It works me into a sweat and I'm exhausted after doing the workout...ergo, it's usually a good workout. This way, I can avoid the cold, but still keep active and not fall behind on my workouts.

Don't let her scare you! I am a Jillian fan myself and use her videos to get through the cold winter. We have a love/hate relationship! Good luck to you!!!

Videos/DVD's are great! They can be a cheaper alternative to a gym membership, help us shy people who don't like the atmosphere of the gym and great for those short on time. I have had great results with workouts on DVD. A good video/DVD workout will always suggest you consult a physician prior to starting and include warm ups, cool downs, cardio, strength, stretching and breathing components. Other workouts such as yoga and pilates are great if you alternate with other programs too! Jillian will keep you going!

just a little FYI... all of her videos are available onDemand if you have Comcast. I love them (even though I can barely move when I'm done!)

I did a few of her Comcast on Demand exercise programs and they are HARD! I was so sore the next day but it felt great. I do a lot of the exercises that I laerned at the gym now too. She's great...
